DIG North Kashmir calls for people-friendly policing, community vigilance | KNO

Sopore, Sep 17 (KNO): Calling for greater public participation in policing, DIG North Kashmir Range Vinod Kumar on Thursday called for people-friendly policing and community vigilance to maintain peace, prevent crime and tackle drug trafficking. Addressing a gathering during Thana Diwas at Police District Sopore, DIG Kumar, as reported by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said Thana Diwas provides an important platform for direct interaction between Police and the public and helps strengthen mutual trust and cooperation. He called for accessible, responsive and people-friendly policing, saying police stations should function not merely as enforcement units but also as institutions of public service. The DIG highlighted the role of community cooperation in maintaining peace and preventing crime. He urged citizens to remain vigilant and share timely information about drug trafficking, crime, suspicious activities and other issues affecting society. Kumar called for the collective responsibility of parents, teachers, religious leaders, civil society and police in protecting young people from drugs and other negative influences—(KNO)
